meltdown in the movie theater

Remember when I left you the seat-gripping, cliff hanger about part 2 of mine and Christian's blissfully unplanned night here? Well I am a woman of my word, people! Ask and you shall recieve.

After getting back from that forsaken bowling game where I not only lost, but did so looking like a cherry attacked my face and unknowingling wearing fuzzy socks that should have never seen the outside of my knee-high boots; I am so put-together, aren't I?; Christian, Sheri (my old roommate) and I decided to go to Christian's humble abode (If you have lived in Heritage Halls you know when I say humble, I mean humble) and make brownie pazookies.
Waaaait, you're meaning to tell me you've never had a brownie pazookie?!?!?! Sit down, child! Let Mama Em tell you how the best way to thicken up so dem Southern boys will fall in love with you!
Brownie Pazookie
You'll need:
-One box of brownie mix
-Whatever the box calls for (I think you are all competent enough to not have me walk you through all of this!)
-8x8 pan
-1/2 gallon of BYU Creamery LaVell's Vanilla ice cream (Go big if you'd like... We were just trying to be healthly. HA HA HA)
To make:
-Make the brownie mix according to the box.
-Put in the oven for 9-10 minutes. The key to a pazookie is to have the brownie/chocolate chip dough/whatever other base soft and slightly uncooked.
-Take out, making sure that is it not too soggy.
-While warm put the vanilla ice cream on top! (I don't even take it out of the pan! Just turn on your animalistic instincts and eat outta the pan folks!)
YUUMMMMM-EEEEE!

After gorging  eating our pazookies in a delicate manner we sat in Christian's kitchen, turned off the lights, stopped talking and listened to music. It was Christian's idea... He said that people are beginning to loose what music really is and that sometimes you've just got to sit down, block out the world and listen. Simply listen. My oh my was that chap right! It was beautiful, it left us all feeling refreshed and by having a refreshed, open-mind a brilliant idea popped into my head! Because I am chalk full of those, right?!? AM I RIGHT?! CAN I GET AN AMEN?! ................I am staring to believe the crickets are my only friends.

My idea was to go see The Vow, right away. Mind you, it was 10:15 at this point in time and I knew that I had some serious convincing to do to. Christian wasn't too pumped on the idea... I don't know why though? I thought all guys loved Rom Coms... Especially ones with Channing Tatum... Especially ones in which Channing Tatum takes off his shirt... I'm wrong?! Whatev. After a whole lot of convincing he decided he just couldn't stand to see me beg and plead anymore so he caved in. Just like that Sheri, Christian, myself and our other roommate, Mallory jumped in the car and jetted to the movie theater! I bet Christian was just so completley excited to be walking into The Vow with three girls, one of which kept holding onto his arm saying, "Are you excited, or what?!?! I am so excited! Christian! Answer me! Are ya?! ARE YA?!?!?!?!?" thatwasme.

As the movie progressed and Rachel McAdams's continued to be Miss Jerky-Jerk Pants to Channing (first name basis, no big deal) my tear ducts began to well up. I kept my ducts in check the entire movie, making sure to not shed a tear but the last 4 minutes of the movie something happened... something grave. I cried like I have never cried in a movie before. I repeat, LIKE I NEVER HAVE BEFORE.
Deep, deep sobs. Tears uncontrollably pouring out. Wiping those uncontrollable tears on my white, Columbia fleece. Making that gasping sound when you begin to stop breathing while crying. Making that sound to try and cover up that gasping sound that ends up sounding like a dying whale... Curling into fetal position.

Meanwhile Christian was trying to watch the movie but kept looking over at me to make sure that I was not choking on my tongue...Thankfully I didn't, but my sounds would beg to differ... Once the movie ended I got up and dashed to the bathroom. Running down the movie theater hall with tear-clouded eyes made me look like a drunkard who couldn't run a straight line, but thankfully I made it to the bathroom where I dramatically splashed water on my face and then slid down the wall with my hand in my hair (i am kidding about the last part, I just wanted to be all theatrical and such!)

Once I was done with my pity party where I pretended like I had just lost my memory I walked out to find Christian in the hall with the most concerned look on his face, after a few seconds of silence, not knowing if he should say anything worried that he might throw me back into my fit of tears, he proceeded to say: "Emily... I have never seen a human being cry like you/as much as you just did."

I'm taking that as an accomplishment.

Learn to love what's good for you, Rachel. Ungrateful woman.

P.S. I ruined that cute Columbia fleece.

a fully-obliged inconvience:

Today marks the 6th time I've been to the mall in the past 10 days...
I know what you are all thinking... "Golly gee! That sure must waste a lot of gas!" just play along and nod your head, saying "yes Emily! that's exactly what we were thinking! what a shopaholic freak! (cough cough.)
But last time I checked, the word wasting has a negative connotation and we all know the mall, nay, the beacon of all that is glorious, does not deserve a negative connotation labeled on it! C'mon now folks! It is just like you and me... It requires some TLC and hates being lonely! Don't worry all, I have put the heavy burden upon myself and decided to be the one to facilitate to it's need!

For the sake of the mall, people! and for those Steve Madden boots...the gorgeous Smashbox lipstick color...those exotic. dangly earrings with precious stones... and that cute purse in Macy's...

It's a hard job... But I am willing and able to be the one sacrificing! I'm so unbelievably giving, right? pssssst: it is in your best interest to agree.

Heavy lifting, I tell you! Woe is me! Boo-hoo! Bah-humbug! Mamma mia! Gee wilikers! Okay guys I am running low on complaints...

Another "inconvience" that crossed my path today was the one... the only... THE CANNOLI! Let's be honest ya'll.... I am Italian and that includes a hefty appetite for anything that stems from my homeland!

I know, I know....I need to work on my self-contol! You are preaching to the choir here, I am trying!! But hey! Can you blame me when all of this is thrown into the game?! No, no you can't because you would do the same if you were in my shoes! Which are stylin', if I do say so myself...

it wasn't JUST a burger...

Saturday me and two of my childhood friends, Chelsea and Aaron went to our tenth-grade English teacher, Mr. Bostock's  Devon's, house.
sorry, it is bizarre to call your former teacher by their first name, but i'll get used to it.

We sat outside and talked for hours, reminiscing about our high school experiences (the good, the bad and the ones we'd wish we could erase from our minds.)

**They all made fun of me for being the square in high school and I took their jokes with grace, but c'mon now, it's me we are talking about! OF COURSE I would react with noting attributes of a princess!
KIDDING!
kind of...

It was an event three years in the making, one that was well worth the wait :)

VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED FOR THE FOLLOWING PICTURES:
-Remember the minor face surgery I went through here? Yeeeeaaaaah, the wound has yet to heal so don't run away scared from the scab on my face!
and if you do get scared don't tell me because then i will get insecure and come hunt you down. mmkay? thanks!

And that my friends, was the most delectable, glorious and saliva-inducing burger that has ever passed through my lips.

So darn good that it deserved to be the title of this post.
that good.

**Yes, I was that girl in high school who flipped a switch when Chelsea changed her grade from an A- to an A+ just to see my jealous/competitive/over-achiever side come out to play. I may or may not have said the following words: "You DID NOT get a high grade than me! THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY ON PLANET EARTH THAT YOU COULD HAVE BEAT ME! NO WAY! NO WAY!"
sorry, Chelly....

Hey, I Think You're Pretty Awesome...

To you, Lara Schaumann for finding humor in my just-woken sense of delusion and me knocking into inanimate objects in our kitchen.

To you, 2 hour, late night boy talks with my beautiful neighbors.

To you, the people who wait for the little things because it will be "better when it actually happens." You know why I am thanking you, :)

To you, homemade buttermilk syrup that I made at 2 this morning. Nothing quite says "I love you, roommates" like having them wake up to that sugary substance. (Good luck on finals girls!)

To you, answers in the back of the book. You make my roommates' life thaaaat mush more easy; and by default mine as well.

To you, Ingrid Michaelson for always providing the opportunity to make up a love story where I am the female lead and a certain someone is Prince Charming in my head whenever one of your songs comes on.

To you, 47th ward who never failed to make my Sundays grand.

To you, whomever it was that sent off floating, lit lanterns taken from Tangled last night. It was sure romantic... Me and Sheri sure loooooved watching them; then we realized that we had no boys to watch it with and then it got awkward.

And to you, roommates who sing Wicked at the top of their lungs with me after Sunday dinner. With you guys, defying gravity is completely attainable (especially because our voices break all the barrier this world has. SORRY NEIGHBORS!)

You make my world brighter. You make me want to dance. And I think you're pretty awesome.

Happy Thursday!

Thursday is my absolute favorite day of the week!
Everything amazing seems to happen on Thursdays; they are simply Heaven-sent (I am not exaggerating! My like love deeper-than-love feelings towards this day is off-the-charts!)

Today was another testament as to why Thursdays are my favorite days.
Here's why:

I woke up in an excellent mood! Which is quite normal for me since I have been blessed with being a morning person...... But today my normal happy-go-lucky attitude in the wee hours was magnified by a trillion gabazillion megasesillion! (I had fun writing that, FYI! Even more fun saying it in a little kid voice ;)

It was one of those days where your hair, your outfit and your mentality all seem to line up in perfect uniformity. Which begs me to ask myself, why does this not happen to me more often?!?!?! GRRRRRRRRRRRR.
ANYWHO! Sorry for the outburst, I am a female afterall and we come prepackaged with that ;)
I have become inspired by her and decided to follow her fashion-sense. Today was the beginning of my journey of wearing preppy-vintage esque clothing.
Needless to say, I'm hooked.

I went to lunch with my good friend Deon Sagers  (you should totally follow out her blog. AMAZING I TELL YOU!) who happens to be one of my best friend's (Christian) mom and his brother, Sean!
Excellent food, excellent conversation & extraordinary, phenomenal people.
best.lunch.ever.

To add to an already excellent Thursday, Sister Sagers welcomed me to lunch with these:
Wait for it.........
I want the anticipation to kiiiiiiilll you!

**Cue the cherubic hymns of "ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

If you know me, you know that the easiest way to  get to my heart is through dessert.
ILOVECUPCAKES.ILOVECUPCAKES.ILOVECUPCAKES.

My friend Christian knew of my little HUGE love connection with Thursdays and I would wake up to a text every Thursday that read:
"Happy Thursday Emily!"

Since I won't be getting those weekly-texts for the next two years, I decided that from here-on-out I will be posting a **joyous, extra-happy message every Thursday-- Christian inspired :)
**Lets be honest, all of my posts are joyous and extra-happy... But these ones will be exuberant!
I hope you had a exquisite Thursday! I sure did :)

A Saturday in the Life of a Food Snob

I woke up today sick as a dog. (I've never really understood that phrase because none of my dogs ever get sick, but adults us that and I want to join the in-crowd.) Thankfully I felt good enough just in time to join two of my fabulous roommates at The Awful Waffle, or as I like to call it, addicting batter sent down from the heavens that is fried in love (aka, oil) which is then drizzled with the nectar of the Gods.

Let's be serious... Even if dying of an illness (like I convinced myself of this morning) I would have still gotten myself out of bed because no one passes up The Awful Waffle.  NO ONE.

We asked a couple on a date to take a picture of us in front of it. They asked if we were tourists and I answered in my head: "No, we are just fatties who like to document places that add a couple inches to our love handles, thank.you.very.much."

While at this glorious establishment we had the pleasure to meet Provo's hottest rapper. That's right ladies and gents, B-MONEY! He sure made our breakfast much more.... entertaining. If you don't know who this fellow is, here is one of his greatest hits. I promise you will die of laughter, cry due to extensive amounts of laughter, stop breathing due to the two physical side-effects above, have a life-changing experience.

After our eventful morning I volunteered at D.I. which was a humbling experience. Being in the service of others is truly a gift, one that I will never want to stop giving!

The adult session (so stoked that we can now go to the "adult" sesh! I AM A BIG GIRL NOW!) of Stake Conference was tonight, which was amazing! And even that is an understatement. I had the privilege to meet Elder Ronald A. Rasband. That's right, I met a general authority! I was cool, calm and collected while talking to him... But inside I was freaking out knowing that this man works with President Monson and the Apostles on a weekly basis! Yeah, no biggy.

After a spiritually edifying session I went to Haley's, one of my closest gals here, surprise party. Though it wasn't much of a surprise to her, we all had a glorious time. **I especially had a great time knowing that we would be having homemade chocolate cake which was delectable (Great job, Sinead!)

The beautiful party-honoree! Happy early birthday, Hales!

**If you want me to have a good time at your party, bring out scrumptious food and I promise you I will rant and rave  about how your party was the best party of the year, which will then increase your street-cred, which means you will then need to pay me back for making you so popular. I accept any form of baked goods, preferably something that is sure to make me feel guilty after eating it.
